Woodturning

Woodturning is about having the freedom to express your creative side, not to be restricted by a drawing or specific dimensions. It’s an organic process - you start turning a piece of wood and the project develops as you work and shape it. I never throw any timber out from furniture projects, so I always have a bin full of offcuts for turning. Recently, I have begun using these offcuts to turn pens and bottle openers as complimentary accessories to my furniture pieces and to sell individually.

If you require a specific piece turned, I will source a specific blank from a timber merchant for that project. From time to time, I gather and collect wood blanks to turn a variety of attractive bowls, candlesticks and hollow form vessels. The timber blank is my inspiration. I will look at the wood and the grain and see where all the interesting bits are - this will guide me to the best shape that will show off the timber in its best light.
