Sourcing the best type of materials

When purchasing materials, I never have them delivered if it is avoidable. I also like to go to a lumber yard and hand select the materials required for a project. This way I can reduce waste material and time, and I can pick the best boards available to me. I always like to use homegrown timber from the UK and Ireland where possible. There is also a huge selection of imported timber available, some of which is beautiful. Again, considerations when selecting materials are: the type of project, the environment the project will be in and other surrounding influences within the location i.e. wall / floor colour, current furniture and fixtures.
